Magnus Group CEO Olly Magnus was last night named as Director of the Year at the high-profile Suffolk Business Awards ceremony.
The accolade is recognition for how Olly has turned the business’ fortunes around since buying into the company and taking control over three years ago.
At a packed black-tie dinner at Kesgrave Hall, Ipswich, hundreds of guests saw the best of Suffolk business, with shortlisted companies and directors in the spotlight before the winners were announced and welcomed to the stage.
The prestigious Director of the Year category was sponsored by The Churchmanor Estates Company PLC. Olly beat off stiff competition from Jake Nicholls of Tru7 Group, Brian Keane of Cameron Ventures Group and Tom West of RentMy.
“I am still a bit speechless about it all,” explained Olly this morning, despite having had time to sleep on his achievement.
“This is a huge honour for me, but I could not have done it without the support and hard work of everyone at Magnus Group and my family.
“It is incredibly humbling and makes all the hard work and risks worthwhile.”
Magnus Group was also shortlisted for the Growth Business of the Year category at last night’s awards, which were organised by the East Anglian Daily Times and sponsored by Sizewell C and the Suffolk Chamber of Commerce.
Leadership recognition
The judges said they were particularly impressed with Olly’s leadership since taking Magnus Group under family control following the death of his father Paul in 2018.
Magnus Group has rebranded, restructured, expanded its warehousing operations and updated its transport fleet. All of this has meant there are now around 150 staff employed at the company’s Great Blakenham HQ and Port of Felixstowe offices.
The company has a people-first attitude, ensuring all the team is on board with its mission and values, something that shines through in the levels of customer service it delivers.
