The day has finally arrived for the owls to leave their nests in the Magnus Group warehouse and settle into their new homes all over Ipswich.
St Elizabeth Hospice’s The Big Hoot is a colourful and creative art trail around Ipswich and follows the success of previous years involving Elmer’s Big Parade (elephants) and Pigs Gone Wild.
There are 50 Hoots placed strategically around town, all sponsored and painted creatively by local companies and organisations. Local families and groups will have great fun touring the area, ticking off each one they’ve seen.
Magnus Group is proud to unveil our Hoot, Let the Grass Grow Greener. We call him Mow. Mow Magnus represents the idea of letting nature flourish and he was painted by local artist Sue Guthrie.
Mow is now standing proudly outside The Greyhound pub in Henley Road. Why not pop in for a drink and some food after you have visited Mow?
All the Hoot statues were lovingly decorated and then stored at our warehouse in Blakenham ready for the big launch.
Our brilliant staff worked overnight Saturday/Sunday to load the owls up into our vans, then deliver and put them up in their designated areas around town.
Here are the 50 Big Hoots being loaded and distributed by Magnus Group staff for the Ipswich art trail.

We’d like to thank them all, especially director and head of transport Martin Gomersall, Dave Flewitt, Andrew Beckett and Mike Harding.
Here is Mow beginning his journey – we think he enjoyed the forklift trip!
Mow was then loaded into a Magnus Group van with other Hoots, ready for the trip to nearby Ipswich. Here he is with Martin Gomersall (centre), Andrew Beckett and Mike Harding.
A collection of owls is called a parliament. So, we had a parliament in the back of our van.
Here is another of the Hoots being unloaded in Ipswich ready to greet its first visitors.
All the Hoots will remain in place until September. Visitors are urged to download the official Big Hoot app – as you find a hoot, you enter the four-digit code into the app to tick it off.
All money raised from the Big Hoot sponsorship goes to St Elizabeth Hospice, an amazing place in Ipswich that improves life for people in Suffolk with progressive and life-limiting illnesses.
