‘Tis the season – Community Spirit at Magnus Group

15th December, 2021

If you follow Olly Magnus on social media, you will appreciate his love of branded merchandise. Black and green with the recognisable “M” appears on everything from mouse mats to pens to mini footballs. The striking vehicle livery is instantly recognisable and is reflected throughout Magnus from the boardroom wall colour to the fleeces worn.

This year, their Christmas cards are no different, designed to reflect their company and the past year.

Time To Reflect

“I wanted to do something a bit special with our cards this year”, remarks Olly, CEO of Magnus Group Ltd. “It’s been a hard year for everyone but especially so in the logistics and warehousing industry. Operating in the perfect storm of Brexit and the pandemic, and the pressure has been relentless.  We wanted to send a Christmas message to all our team and clients but a personal one. We wanted a card which reflected the past year, but also our values”.

Magnus Group believes in the benefit of internal promotion and developing the team. Appreciating the talent and loyalty within the team, and giving opportunities is one of Magnus’s core values.

An Opportunity to Support

“When we looked at having a card designed, we wanted to give someone an opportunity to showcase their talent and gain experience so decided to work with a local student”, explains Olly. “I’m a Trustee Director for ITFC Community Trust, which inspires and develops young talent in sport. At Magnus Group we have recently recruited new team members and sponsored their training to become drivers and warehouse operatives, so it made sense that for our Christmas card we followed the same approach.”

Meet Our Artist

Luke Psaros, age 20, is currently a student.  Luke studied Art, Photography and Product design at Northgate Sixth Form in Ipswich, before starting his Architecture degree at Norwich University of Arts. “I think for anyone creative it’s important to explore as many ways of working as possible,” reflects Luke. “I’ve always been passionate about photography and art, being inspired by nature and outdoors. Having the opportunity to express my creativity in a different way was fantastic”.  Luke hopes to obtain a work placement whilst he gains his Masters in Architecture.

“Luke has the work ethic that Magnus loves to support. He has worked part-time since he was 16 to support his education, has strong family values supporting him, and has a real passion for what he does. He was the perfect match for us”, says Olly. “I was impressed with his responsiveness, creativity, and adaptability. He is going to be an asset to any company in the future with his professional and mature attitude.”

Supporting Local

Magnus Group used a local independent printer to produce the cards. “This was the first commercial card that Luke had designed. Our printer by contrast has been around for over 60 years”, laughs Olly. “But with the same family values, supporting local, and high level of customer service that Magnus values”.

Magnus Group hopes that their Christmas cards bring a smile, and some festive cheer, as they wish their team and clients Happy Christmas. Cards should be arriving on doormats over the next week!
